Big blow to Congress, Assam former party chief Bhubaneswar Kalita joins BJP

New Delhi: Former Assam Rajya Sabha MP and veteran Congress leader Bhubaneswar Kalita who quit party only an hour before Amit Shah Announced Article 370 Scrapped in the Upper House, joined Bharatiya Janata Party.
His resignation was accepted on the day when Home Minister Amit Shah moved the resolution to scrap provisions of Article 370 and bifurcation of the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
Kalita, MP from Assam, resigned from Rajya Sabha. He said that he feels that now the Congress cannot be saved . The Congress ideology looks like it is trying to commit suicide. He further said said that the mood of the country has completely changed and this whip is against the public sentiment of the country. Jawaharlal Nehru was also against Article 370.
Kalita joined the party at its headquarters here in presence of Union minister Piyush Goyal and other senior leaders.
Rajya Sabha MP from Assam, Sanjay Singh, had recently also resigned from the Upper House as well as the Congress party. He joined the BJP the very next day.
