Shraddha raises voice to save Mumbai’s Aarey Forest
Bollywood actor Shraddha Kapoor recently joined a protest against felling of tress in Mumbai’s beauty, Aarey Forest. She did not shy away from standing along with the common people with a placard in her hands and even shouted slogans in support of saving the forest.
Rain could not stop Shraddha from being a part of the protest. She stood strong beside hundreds of people who had gathered on the street to protest. It was a non-violent protest to save the Aarey Forest. The actor even went live on Instagram in order to educate her fans about the ongoing protest, urging them to join it and raise their voice against the mishap.
Recently, for the development of Mumbai car shed project, BMC approved chopping off 3,000 trees of Aarey Forest. Also, the Tree Authority of BMC permitted Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) to cut 2,232 trees from the locality, while 469 trees are planned to be relocated for construction of car service. It came as a shock to the Mumbaikars and they planned to stage a protest against the move.
Shraddha shared a post regarding the movement on her Instagaram handle. She wrote, “Trying to do my bit. Went live on my insta sometime back to show you all how so many people have come together to stand up against this. 2700+ trees are slated to be chopped down for the Metro. Unacceptable. Shocking. As if we don’t have enough environmental issues already. As if Mumbai doesn’t have enough pollution already. And permission is granted to chop off the lungs of the city. This HAS TO STOP. #SAVEAAREY#TRYYOURBITFORTHEENVIRONMENT@aareyforest”
