Senior Engineer at Google Cloud speaks to Ten News on initiatives of Google in India
On Sunday, Dr. Rudresh Pandey, Professor, ABES Engineering college hosted Vinay Bamil, Senior Engineer at Google Cloud on Ten News Live to talk about the recent initiatives of Google in India and how Google is facilitating digitization in India.
Dr. Pandey started by talking about how the world has moved from mobile revolution, to media revolution and now to digital revolution.
Talking about Google, he said Google enables you to search in 9 vernacular languages, and it also has a feature of voice search.
While speaking about the recent initiatives of Google, Dr. Pandey talked about “Internet Sathi” where Google has thought internet to 30 million indian women across 50000 villages in the country.
“The Google is also using Artificial Intelligence for flood warning or flood forecasting.”
Vinay Bamil talked about the partnership of Google with WHO and the Health ministry to provide genuine information to the people on Covid-19 and also local and national resources related to the Covid-19.
Bamil talked about how Google products like google meet and youtube learning has enabled online teaching and how people can self-educate themselves using these products.
Dr. Pandey shared that the Google is also helping the migrants by displaying almost 11000 night shelters located across 800 cities on Google maps, for those migrant labourers who are on going back to their homes.
On the recent announcement by Google to invest $10 billion in India, Bamil said that Google wants to help achieve the Digital India mission.
Under this fund, Google will be investing in the Digital infrastructure in India and it will be helping the small businesses to nurture with its products.
Bamil talked about two such products which are alredy helping the small businesses, first being the Google pay which enables the small businesses to receive or make quick payments, second being the Google’s cloud platform where small businesses can host their websites. It also provides free credit which can be used to get a sufficient hosting plan.
