GIMS offers free of cost “immunization” for children to prevent infectious diseases in them
As has been predicted by various sources, the third wave of Corona is imminent and it may maximally affect the pediatric age group because the COVID vaccination has yet not been introduced for the children below 18 years. Though various clinical trials are going on for the children vaccination, but it will take some time.
The children have innate immunity to fight against various infectious diseases including corona virus. The pediatric population below 18 years constitute approx. 40 % of the total population, but in previous two corona waves, less than 10% of children were affected and also the severity of infection was much less as compared to that in adult population. This was attributed to good vaccination coverage in the children.
Due to long pandemic time for over one year, the children were deprived of various vaccination, which are essential to prevent various infectious diseases. Some vaccines have been shown to be beneficial in preventing Covid infections in children like BCG and Measles.
Government Institute of Medical Sciences, Greater Noida, has taken initiative to prevent infectious diseases among all age groups. GIMS is providing “Immunization services daily”, where all the vaccines provided by the Government in the National programmes are being administered free of cost and also certain optional vaccines, which are not in the programme like Hepatitis A, typhoid conjugate, cervical cancer, influenza vaccine, pneumococcal vaccine, Rota virus, hexavalent vaccine, meningo-cococcal vaccine, MMR, chicken pox, d Tap, cholera, Japanese encephalitis and anti-rabies vaccine will be provided at 20-50% discounted rates. The digital payment is mandatory (online mode) and cash transaction will not be accepted. The parents are requested to avail this facility and immunize their children timely to combat the pandemic.
