SC orders demolition of Supertech’s 40-Storey Twin Towers, citing ‘collusion’ between Noida Authority & Builder

Supreme Court on Tuesday passed an order to demolish the 40-Storey Twin Towers in Emerald Court Society in Noida Sector 93, built by real estate company Supertech.

The Supreme Court directed the demolition saying that what Supertech Ltd has done is “palpably wrong”, as the towers were constructed by encroaching upon the green common area of the housing society.

The homebuyers association had earlier claimed that the huge twin towers constructed by Supertech were not in the original plan shown to them at the time of booking and it blocked their view, fresh air and sunlight.

The Supreme court in its judgement observed that there was a “collusion” between officials of the Authority and Supertech as it had connived with the builder over not providing the sanctioned plan to the homebuyers of the project

The apex court has ordered Supertech to complete the demolition work within a period of 3 months at its own cost and provide reimbursements to the flat owners. The SC said, “All flat owners in the twin towers in Noida to be reimbursed along with 12% interest.”
