Exhibition Showcase confers ‘Flagbearer of the Industry’ award on Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Chairman, IEML and DG, EPCH

New Delhi, July 9, 2022: Exhibition Showcase on Friday hosted the 6th Exhibition Excellence Awards, 2022 at India Expo Mart, Greater Noida to recognize and honour the industry stalwarts in 3 categories – exhibition organizers, exhibition venues and service providers.
Dr. Rakesh Kumar, the Director-General of the Export Promotion Council of Handicrafts (EPCH) and Chairman of India Exposition Mart Ltd. (IEML), during the function, was honoured with the most special title – ‘Flagbearer of the Industry’.
Speaking to Ten News on this award, he said, “I am really honored and thankful to the industry who have considered me for this,” he said humbly. “I personally think that I have just worked in these years. The industry has acknowledged it as a flag-bearer or torch-bearer, thanks to that. But I am quite sure that this is a continuous way of growth.” He also mentioned that EPCH, IEML, and other organizations have helped him grow all these years.
He also talked about the short-term and long-term outlook of the exhibition industry. “Last two years have been very challenging for the exhibition industry, but now it has opened and we have seen a growth path of the entire sector. There is a business spirit that is emerging in the visitors and exhibitors.” He stated that this spirit will show quite a jump in the industry on both a short-term and long-term basis.
He further talked about the new trends and technologies emerging in the exhibition industry. He remarked that in the last two years, despite the challenging times, a lot of new processes evolved. “Technology is the one area which was earlier not experienced by the industry. Now the industry is working along with the technology up-gradation.” Promotion, registration, and security are a few facets that evolved with the up-gradation of technology in the industry. “Our sector is working much more organized.”
