Brahmastra obliterates over ₹800 crores of PVR and INOX investors

Mumbai, Sept 10th,2022: Brahmastra, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt was released in cinemas across India on 9th Sept, Friday.

Made with a budget of a whopping ₹ 410 crores, the movie has opened up to moderate reviews by analysts and viewers.

In view of the recent weak reviews of the movie, India’s largest theater chains PVR and Inox have cumulatively lost over ₹800 crores in market capitalization today.

Movie critics have called the Ayan Mukherji-directed film a “king-sized disappointment” since it was promoted on a grand scale but fails to impress viewers all the same.

Brahmastra, the first installment of a mythological trilogy, opened to tepid reviews despite healthy advance bookings worth ₹23 crores.

Analysts suggest the movie might end up generating less than half of the money poured into making it.
“The lifetime box office for the film is estimated to be in a wide range of ₹130-200 crore, based on the strong advances,” says a media note by Elara Capital, an investment baking and finance firm.

Brahmastra, filled with majestic VFX and a talented star cast, narrates the story of Shiva, a DJ who learns about his strange connection with the element of fire and also holds the power to awaken the Brahmastra, a supernatural weapon that is said to be able to destroy the universe, capable of wrecking creation and vanquishing all beings.
