Bombay (14/10/2022): The Bombay High Court on Friday acquitted former Delhi University professor GN Saibaba in a Maoist link case.
The professor is currently lodged in the central prison of Nagpur. The division bench of Justice Rohit Deo and Anil Pansare allowed the appeal which was filed by Saibaba.
The bench also allowed the appeal of 5 other convicts in the case acquitting them, The convicts have been directed for immediate release from jail by the bench.
The case returns back to 2017 when a session court in Maharashtra Gadchiroli district convicted Saibaba and others for alleging Maoist link and for being indulged in activities which amounted to waging war against the country. Saibaba and others were found guilty under various provisions
