Netflix co-CEO lauds Bhansali for epic films, reveals investment plans in India

Mumbai (Maharashtra) 19th February 2023: Ted Sarandos, co-CEO of Netflix on his brief India visit sat down and chatted with Indian Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali and expressed his faith in the Indian market and the Indian audience.

Simultaneously, the co-CEO also promoted the filmmaker’s upcoming Netflix series ‘Heeramandi’.

Ted Sarandos sat down and discussed a myriad of topics in Mumbai on Saturday. He promoted and praised the work of Bhansali and prepared the world for the blockbuster series ‘Heeramandi’.

He told the audience to brace themselves for something they has never seen and confessed that it was an honour and a lifetime opportunity to have worked along with Sanjay Leeka Bhansali.

Heeramandi is an ensemble of a power-packed female cast with Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Richa Chadha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sharmin Segal and Sanjeeda Shaikh. The series according to the director will introduce us to a ‘world where courtesans were queens’.

Ted Sarandos further established that Netflix will continue to invest in India and the Nation will receive a higher share of its $17 billion budget owing to the fact that Netflix had the best year of its existence in India, with the streaming platform’s revenue witnessing a hike of 25%.

Furthermore, Netflix’s content-watching grew by 30% last year. Sanramdos also met with Anurag Thakur, Indias’s Information and Broadcasting minister who said that he looked forward to India’s content expanding and reaching viewers worldwide.
