AI is the future of India: Dr Mayank Garg, Director ITS at India International Education Expo 2023

New Delhi (India), 29th April 2023: The India International Education Expo 2023 is being held from 28th- 30th April at IEML, Greater Noida. More than 300 colleges and 15,000 students are going to be attending the power packed event.

On the First Day of the event Dr. Mayank Garg Director of the ITS Engineering College, Greater Noida which is also the Silver Partner of the Expo engaged in a conversation with Ten News Network. During the conversation Dr. Garg shared his thoughts on multiple topics.

Initially Dr. Garg was questioned about the hopes he had from the IIEE expo to which he replied that the event will successfully create awareness and cater to the needs of students who will be a part of the event.

Following this he was asked about AI and how the ITS Engineering College is dealing with and introducing its students to the growth of AI. On this the director shared his opinion and said that, “AI is the future of India.” He also went ahead to quash the misconception among students that AI will take over jobs and reduce their chances of employment.

Dr. Garg said that he believes that AI will make professionals more competent and to work in tandem with this new technology students must develop innovative skills in their area of profession.

Next Dr. Mayank Garg commented on startups and entrepreneurship. He said that his college has been working profusely in this particular sector since 2015. The college is equipped with multiple facilities such as the MSME incubation sector and has also been provided with a grant of ₹2.87cr from the Government to work on innovative technologies and projects in a span of 5 years.

He said that innovation and incubation is the primary focus of the college and it is his vision to create 2-4% entrepreneurs from his college in the coming 3-5 years who would thereafter employ other students. The Director also mentioned that ITS creates awareness in other colleges and schools to promote entrepreneurship and that their college campus is open to anyone who wishes to develop new commercial programs.

Lastly Director Garg was asked about the gap between the industrial and academic sectors and how ITS is working to address the issue. Dr. Garg answered this question by mentioning the Industry-Institute Interface cell that he has established in his college.

He said that the cell has mentors from IITs and IIMs who educate students about the professional skills they need to inculcate to become successful in their particular fields. He added that ITS promotes three skills in their students: Communication, Attitude and Technical Skills . He said that an amalgamation of these three skills makes their students competent and ready to enter the corporate sector.

He also commented on the various societies and clubs in his college that promote extra curricular activities and henceforth encourages a holistic development of their students.
