BSF shoots down Pak drone carrying narcotics

Amritsar, 05th June 2023: The officials at the Border Security Force shot down a Pakistani drone near the International Border in Punjab’s Amritsar and recovered over 3 kg of heroin.

Agency spokespersons assured that the border officials noticed the unmanned aerial vehicle at around 9:45 pm on Sunday, and that the BSF troops immediately intercepted it by opening fire.

During the search of the premises, the authorities recovered a black-coloured drone (quadcopter, Matrice, 300 RTK) along with three packets of heroin from a field in the village Rattankhurd in Amritsar.

The recovered heroin package weighs around 3.2kg and is the latest such incident. This marks the second incident in two weeks. There was a similar attempt to smuggle drugs across the border just last week at the same time that was also intercepted by the border forces, and recovered over 2.7kg of heroin from a drone.
