New Delhi (18/06/2023): Elon Musk, the social media company’s owner, said in a tweet on Saturday that a Twitter video app for smart TVs is in the works, a move that would be in keeping with the company’s current goals to focus on developing video content on the site.
Musk responded to a tweet requesting a Twitter video app, saying, “It’s coming.”
In an investor presentation on Thursday, new CEO Linda Yaccarino and Musk laid out Twitter’s plans to focus on video, creator, and commerce partnerships to revitalise the social media company’s revenue beyond digital advertising.
Reuters analysed the investor presentation.
According to one slide in the presentation, vertical video accounted for more than 10% of time spent on Twitter.
Tucker Carlson, a former Fox News personality, debuted a new show on Twitter earlier this month called “Tucker on Twitter.” A source familiar with the subject told Reuters that Twitter plans to sell adverts and sponsorships alongside videos from Carlson and other content creators.
