New Delhi, 22nd June 2023: Twitter owner Elon Musk recently tweeted that he was “up for a cage fight” with Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg.

Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, subsequently tweeted a screenshot of Musk’s message with the comment “send me location.”

“The story speaks for itself,” said a Meta representative to the BBC.

Musk immediately responded to Zuckerberg’s remark with the phrase “Vegas Octagon.”

The Octagon is the fenced-in enclosure and competition mat used for Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) fights. The UFC is headquartered in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Musk, who will be 52 years old later this month, also tweeted, “I have this great move that I call “The Walrus”, where I just lie on top of my opponent & do nothing.”

He also tweeted, “I almost never work out, except for picking up my kids & throwing them in the air.”

Meanwhile, Mr Zuckerberg, 39, has started practising mixed martial arts (MMA) and has recently won jiu-jitsu contests.

The arguments have gone viral, with social media users arguing who would win the battle and others posting parodies such as mocked up ads advertising the fight.

In the meanwhile, Meta has presented its employees with designs for a text-based social network aimed to compete with Twitter earlier this month.

It may allow users to follow accounts they currently follow on Meta’s image-sharing programme, Instagram.

It may also allow the company to gain followers via decentralised networks such as Mastodon.

A Meta representative recently confirmed that the platform was in the works. The text-based network, codenamed P92, may prove to be a more formidable competitor to Elon Musk’s Twitter than BlueSky or Mastodon.
