Imphal, 25th June 2023: Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh said on Saturday that vigilante groups’ bunkers along national highways had been dismantled, and he threatened them with harsh action if they continued to use weaponry in the guise of safeguarding their communities.

After visiting a relief camp for pregnant women in the state capital Imphal, the Chief Minister told reporters that “no one can presume the districts as separate states as Manipur exists entirely as one entity.”

According to Biren, the culprits of the June 21 IED explosion have been identified, and the investigation has been turned over to the NIA. He called the incident cowardly and stated that NIA officials have “reached the state and have begun investigating.”

Biren also expressed concern about the frequency of nighttime violence, saying, “It is paralysing Imphal Valley and preventing the movement of security forces.”
In an appeal to the public to support the central forces, Biren stated that “terrorist groups will be given appropriate and befitting punishment.”

Earlier in the day, a group set fire to state minister L Susindro’s private godown at Chingarel in Imphal East district, turning it to ashes.

This also comes as an effort was made on Friday night to torch another property of the consumer and food affairs minister and his apartment in the same district, but timely intervention stopped it.
