Apple and Galgotias University Forge Partnership to Empower Future iOS Developers

Greater Noida, 21st Feb: In a move to foster quality iOS talent in India, Apple, in partnership with Galgotias University, has launched the iOS Student Developer program. This initiative, which originated as a collaboration between industry and academia, aims to nurture skilled iOS developers and empower them to contribute to the thriving app economy.

The iOS Student Developer program, which was initially piloted at the SRM Institute of Technology in Chennai last year, has expanded its reach to include Galgotias University in Delhi and Chitkara University in Chandigarh in its second year. Under this program, leading TWITCH companies such as Tata Consulting Services, Wipro, Infosys, Tech Mahindra, Cognizant, and HCL collaborate with universities to enhance access to technology, curriculum, pedagogical approaches, and industry best practices.

Expressing his admiration for the initiative, Apple Senior Vice President Greg Joswiak remarked, “It’s unbelievably impressive… These kids were so well-spoken, they have thought out what they could do and they were taking advantage of all modern technologies… and to explain it with such competence.” Joswiak emphasized the competence demonstrated by the students, noting that most of the demos showcased were developed within just a few days.

Joswiak highlighted the significance of iOS as a platform, emphasizing its pivotal role in driving the global app economy. “iOS is one of the largest platforms… it’s really what has driven the app economy around the world. There is a need to fulfill development requirements within companies and within the user base within India,” he explained. Joswiak expressed confidence in the potential of the students involved in the program, stating, “What I saw here with these kids, they are going to be proud representatives of iOS development.”

Dhruv Galgotia, CEO of Galgotias University, also shared his enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, “Working for Apple has truly been an inspirational and enriching experience not only for the students but the faculty and leadership team at Galgotias as well.” Galgotia underscored the transformative impact of the iOS Development Lab on the university’s teaching and learning pedagogy, emphasizing the importance of mentorship and guidance in fostering a culture of active learning among students.
