Greater Noida (28/08/2025): A delegation comprising Naresh Gupta, Sanjay Batra, Ishan Agarwal, Ankur Jain, Manoj Chowdhary, Subhash Agarwal, and several others met with CGST Commissioner Sanjiv Kumar Mishra (IRS) in Greater Noida to raise key industry-related concerns and discuss the current GST framework.

During the meeting, Commissioner Mishra emphasized that the Goods and Services Tax (GST) system today is built on a foundation of trust, which has significantly contributed to increased tax collections — now reaching ₹29 lakh crore. He clarified that the department maintains a strict stance against fraudulent or “ghost” companies, with no provisions for waivers in such cases.

Addressing the concerns of the delegation, Mishra confirmed that, as of now, artificial intelligence (AI) is not being used to generate notices to GST-registered entities.

Naresh Gupta and Sanjay Batra brought several pressing issues to the Commissioner’s attention, including:

The inefficiency of the GSTN Call Centre,

The request to enable OTP (One-Time Password) for e-Way Bills via email in addition to mobile,

Simplification of the GST export refund process,

The ability to download e-Way Bills even after five days.

Several other industry challenges were also discussed during the interaction. Commissioner Mishra expressed appreciation for the efforts of the Laghu Udyog Bharati (LUB) in actively engaging with the department to address systemic and procedural hurdles faced by businesses.

He assured the delegation that registered GST taxpayers would not be subjected to undue harassment and encouraged members to approach him directly in case of grievances or unresolved issues. LUB representatives conveyed their commitment to continuing this dialogue and stated that further concerns would be tabled during the next scheduled meeting.
