Greater Noida (24 September 2025): The Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS), Greater Noida, in collaboration with the National Thalassemia Welfare Society (NTWS), New Delhi, organized a voluntary blood donation camp at Tata Consulting Engineers Limited, Green Boulevard, Sector-62, Noida. The event was part of the nationwide Mega Voluntary Blood Donation Drive, running from September 17 to October 2, 2025, to mark Gandhi Jayanti.

The camp, held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., aimed to create awareness about the importance of voluntary blood donation and ensure adequate availability of safe blood components for patients. Alongside blood donation, free thalassemia screening and awareness sessions were conducted by the Thalassemia Welfare Society to educate participants about the condition.

A total of 40 individuals registered for donation. After medical screening, 33 were deemed fit and successfully donated blood, resulting in the collection of 33 units. Among the women participants, five were cleared to donate, while another five were declared unfit, mostly due to anemia.

The camp was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Shalini Bahadur, Professor of Pathology and In-charge of the Blood Centre at GIMS, along with Dr. Deeksha Singh, Senior Resident, Pathology, and a team of technical staff. Dr. Bahadur personally provided post-donation counselling and presented tokens of appreciation to each donor.

GIMS acknowledged the efforts of Mrs. Monisha Gogoi, Project Officer at NTWS, New Delhi, for her vital role in coordinating and organizing the camp. Speaking on the occasion, the GIMS Blood Centre team reaffirmed their commitment to providing timely, safe, and sufficient blood supplies for patients in need.
