Greater Noida (06 November 2025): The Department of Community Medicine at the Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS), Greater Noida, in collaboration with the College of Nursing, organized a public awareness rally on Thursday on the theme “One World – One Health.” The event was held under the aegis of the Indian Association of Preventive and Social Medicine (IAPSM) and aimed to highlight the interconnection between human, animal, and environmental health.

The rally was formally flagged off from the GIMS Hospital premises by Dr. (Brig.) Rakesh Gupta, Director of GIMS. In his address, Dr. Gupta emphasized the growing relevance of the One Health approach in addressing emerging global health threats. He said that protecting public health requires an integrated effort across multiple disciplines, stressing the need for harmony between humans, animals, and the environment.

Dr. Rambha Pathak, Dean of GIMS and Head of the Department of Community Medicine, elaborated that complex health challenges such as zoonotic diseases, antimicrobial resistance, and environmental degradation cannot be tackled in isolation. She underlined the importance of coordinated action among healthcare professionals, veterinarians, environmental scientists, and community members to ensure a sustainable future.

Adding their voices to the event, Dr. Neetu Badhuria, Principal, and Dr. Sarika Saxena, Vice-Principal of the College of Nursing, reiterated the critical role of awareness and education in shaping healthier societies.

More than 100 participants—including faculty members, healthcare workers, medical and nursing students, and field staff—joined the rally with great enthusiasm. Carrying colorful placards and chanting awareness slogans, participants spread messages on cleanliness, responsible antibiotic use, animal care, and environmental conservation.

The rally concluded with an awareness session led by Dr. Priyanka, Associate Professor of Community Medicine, who spoke on integrating One Health principles into daily practices. The event ended with an oath-taking ceremony, where students pledged to uphold and promote the ideals of One Health in both their professional and personal lives.

Faculty members including Dr. Shruti Singh, Dr. Suprakash, Dr. Praveen, and Dr. Swarnima from the Department of Community Medicine were also present and contributed to the successful execution of the program.
