GL Bajaj Inaugurates Smart India Hackathon 2025 – Hardware Edition as Nodal Centre

Greater Noida, 8th December 2025: GL Bajaj Institute of Technology & Management (GLBITM), proudly serving as the Nodal Centre for the Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2025 – Hardware Edition, inaugurated the five-day national-level hackathon with great enthusiasm and participation.

Adding to the significance of the occasion, the national inauguration was virtually addressed by Prof. T. G. Sitharam, Chairman, AICTE, who extended his best wishes to all participants across the country.

A total of 26 teams comprising 156 participants from 9 states have gathered at the campus to engineer innovative solutions to real-world challenges presented by the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment (MoSJE).

The inaugural ceremony at GLBITM was graced by Chief Guest Dr. Amitava Sen Gupta, Formerly CSIIR of National Physical Laboratory, New Delhi. In his inspiring address, Dr. Sen Gupta motivated the young innovators to apply creativity, skill, and passion to solve the five critical problem statements assigned by the Ministry. He encouraged participants to maintain zeal, collaboration, and technical rigor throughout the event, aiming for solutions that can create nationwide impact.

The five problem statements offered by the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment (MoSJE) include:

Development of a Smart Blind Stick for Enhanced Mobility and Safety of Visually Impaired Persons

Smart Foldable Aluminium Axillary Crutch with IoT Integration for Enhanced Mobility and Rehabilitation

Real-time Pressure Measurement Device to Optimize Orthotic Design and Patient Outcomes

Development of an Affordable and Functional Upper Limb Prosthetic Terminal Device for Partial Hand Amputees

Sign Language Capture and Illustration System with Sensor Integration

Addressing the audience, Kartikay Agarwal, CEO, GL Bajaj Educational Institutions (Greater Noida/Mathura), expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Ministry of Education, AICTE, and the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell (MIC) for selecting GL Bajaj as a Nodal Centre for this prestigious national hackathon. He reiterated the institution’s commitment to fostering innovation, inclusivity, and technological advancement.
