GREATER NOIDA News (05/02/2026): Marking World Cancer Day, the Centre for Medical Innovation (CMI) at GIMS has announced a National Startup Call aimed at strengthening innovation in palliative cancer care across the country. The initiative invites startups, innovators, and academic spin-offs working on solutions that improve the quality of life of cancer patients whose disease has progressed beyond curative or manageable stages.
The call focuses on advancing compassionate, patient-centred care, underscoring that meaningful medical support remains critical even when cure is no longer possible. CMI–GIMS is seeking practical, scalable, and clinically deployable innovations that help reduce suffering, preserve dignity, and enhance comfort for patients and their families during advanced stages of cancer.

Eligible solutions include technologies and care models addressing pain and symptom management, psychosocial and emotional well-being, caregiver support systems, home- and community-based palliative care delivery, digital tools that ensure continuity of care, and end-of-life support services. The initiative places strong emphasis on real-world applicability and integration into existing clinical workflows.
Selected startups will gain the opportunity to collaborate closely with oncologists, palliative care specialists, and clinical mentors from GIMS, along with experts from partner hospitals. This collaboration will enable clinical validation, co-development of solutions within hospital settings, and hands-on exposure to patient care environments. In addition, participating teams will receive guidance on regulatory and ethical requirements, support for pilot deployments, and assistance with integrating innovations into routine care practices.

CMI–GIMS highlighted that World Cancer Day should not only focus on prevention and cure, but also on standing alongside patients when treatment options become limited. By fostering innovation in palliative care, the institute aims to reinforce the importance of dignity, comfort, and quality of life as essential pillars of cancer care.
The National Startup Call is open to startups, early-stage ventures, independent innovators, and academic spin-offs from across India. Applications opened on World Cancer Day and will remain open until 5 March. Further details and the online application form are available at www.bioincubator.gims.ac.in, while queries can be directed to gimsincubator@gmail.com.
