Greater Noida News (14/02/2026): In a major development for the region’s industrial and food processing ecosystem, Kewpie Corporation has initiated discussions to establish a large-scale manufacturing facility in Yamuna City with a proposed investment of around ₹200 crore.
The proposal was discussed during a high-level meeting hosted by the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA), which was attended by senior representatives of the Japanese company. The meeting was chaired by R.K. Singh, CEO of YEIDA, along with S.K. Bhatia, Additional CEO of the Authority.
Founded in 1919, Kewpie Corporation is a globally renowned food processing company best known for its egg-yolk-based mayonnaise and distinctive umami-rich flavor products. The company commands nearly 60 percent of the mayonnaise market in Japan and has operations spanning more than 79 countries worldwide. Over the years, Kewpie has expanded its portfolio to include health foods, fruit jams, sauces and fruit-based solutions.
According to officials familiar with the discussions, Kewpie is actively pursuing a “Make in Local” strategy in high-growth Asia-Pacific markets to strengthen its supply chain and localize production. In this context, Yamuna City has emerged as a strong contender for the company’s next phase of international expansion in India.
Key Highlights of the Proposal
Proposed Investment: Approximately ₹200 crore
Land Requirement: Around 8 to 10 acres within YEIDA’s industrial parks
Global Presence: Existing manufacturing facilities in the United States, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia and China; the proposed unit would be the company’s first major manufacturing base in India
During the meeting, the visiting Kewpie official expressed keen interest in YEIDA’s infrastructure, connectivity and industrial ecosystem. He indicated that a detailed proposal would soon be placed before the company’s Board of Directors in Japan. Following internal approvals, the company plans to proceed with further management-level discussions with YEIDA to finalize the project.
Welcoming the proposal, YEIDA’s CEO stated that the talks were highly encouraging. He added that the Authority has advised the company to submit a comprehensive project plan outlining precise investment figures, land requirements and timelines. Once received, YEIDA will undertake a detailed review and initiate the necessary process to secure approvals from its Board and the Department of Industries.
After the meeting, the Japanese delegation visited several industrial parks developed by YEIDA to assess potential sites for the proposed facility. The visit concluded on a positive note, with both sides expressing optimism about the project’s prospects.
If finalized, the proposed food processing plant is expected to generate significant local employment, strengthen the regional industrial base and contribute to the broader “Make in India” initiative by attracting high-quality foreign direct investment into Uttar Pradesh.
