Greater Noida News (22 February 2026): The Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS), Greater Noida has successfully completed a Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certification Course, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening clinical skills and emergency preparedness among healthcare professionals.
The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Rakesh Gupta, Director, GIMS, along with Dr. Bhanu Pratap Singh Kalyan, Assessor, Lakshay. More than 30 participants, including doctors, nurses, and paramedical staff, attended the intensive training programme.
The course was conducted by an expert BCLS training team under the guidance of the Department of Anaesthesiology. The sessions provided participants with a thorough understanding of evidence-based emergency care practices essential for managing cardiac and respiratory emergencies.
During the training, special emphasis was laid on core life-support techniques, including the distinction between Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and Compression Only Life Support (COLS). Participants were trained on the correct sequence of actions during resuscitation, supported by hands-on demonstrations. Practical sessions covered the effective use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), as well as techniques to manage choking and sudden cardiac arrest situations.

The certification programme was conducted in collaboration with the Indian Resuscitation Council Federation, with the objective of equipping healthcare workers with the skills, confidence, and clinical judgment required to respond promptly in critical situations.
Addressing the participants, Dr. Rakesh Gupta highlighted the crucial role of regular skill-based training in improving patient outcomes. Emergency preparedness depends not only on infrastructure but also on the competence of healthcare providers. Timely and well-executed life support measures can significantly increase survival rates in cardiac emergencies, he said, while appreciating the active participation of the trainees.
The successful completion of the BCLS Certification Course reflects GIMS Greater Noida’s continued focus on excellence in medical education, patient safety, and capacity building in emergency care, contributing positively to both institutional and community health outcomes.
