Gautam Buddha University Webinar Stresses Sustainability as a Lifestyle, Not Just a Concept

Greater Noida News (23/02/2026): Highlighting sustainability as a practical approach rather than a mere concept, the Department of Environmental Science, University School of Vocational Studies and Applied Sciences (USoVSAS), Gautam Buddha University organized an expert webinar under its Planet Pulse Expert Lecture Series. The webinar was held on the theme “Science for Sustainability: Academic Excellence and Career Pathways in Environmental Studies” and drew wide participation from students, research scholars, and faculty members.
The session featured Dr. Manoj Pant, Senior Divisional Manager at Esri India Technologies Pvt. Ltd., as the keynote speaker. In his address, Dr.Manoj Pant shared in-depth insights into the expanding role of geospatial technologies in addressing environmental challenges. He highlighted emerging career opportunities in fields such as geographic information systems (GIS), climate science, spatial analytics, and sustainability-driven planning, emphasizing the need for data-based decision-making in environmental management.
One of the major highlights of the webinar was the announcement of the Department’s newly launched flagship programme, M.Sc. Geospatial Data Science. The programme has been designed to equip students with advanced skills in GIS applications, spatial data analysis, environmental monitoring, and sustainability-oriented problem solving, in line with global academic and industry requirements.

Dr. Manoj Pant underlined the growing relevance of geospatial data in tackling issues such as climate change, resource management, urban planning, and environmental conservation. He noted that interdisciplinary expertise combining technology and environmental science is increasingly sought after in both national and international job markets.
The interactive webinar encouraged meaningful dialogue on academic excellence, research avenues, and future career pathways in environmental studies. Participants actively engaged in discussions, reflecting strong interest in sustainability-focused education and skill development.
