Greater Noida News (19/03/2026): In a significant step towards strengthening medical research and academic synergy, Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) and Gautam Buddha University (GBU) have formalized a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at fostering long-term collaboration in education, research, and innovation.

The agreement was officially signed by Dr. Saurabh Srivastava, Chief Medical Superintendent of GIMS, and Prof. Chander Kumar Singh, Registrar of GBU, representing their respective institutions.

This strategic partnership is designed to create a structured framework for joint initiatives across multiple domains. Key areas of collaboration include interdisciplinary and multicentric research projects, student and resident exchange programmes, and a wide range of academic engagements such as seminars, workshops, short-term courses, and conferences. Both institutions are also exploring the possibility of establishing a joint PhD programme and setting up a collaborative research centre focused on priority health areas.

The MoU places particular emphasis on advancing research in critical fields such as cancer, infectious diseases, aging, non-communicable diseases, and emerging domains like medical data analytics. It also outlines strict adherence to ethical standards, biosafety protocols, and regulatory guidelines, while incorporating provisions related to intellectual property rights, confidentiality, and academic publications.

Officials from both sides highlighted that the collaboration will leverage GBU’s multidisciplinary academic and technological strengths alongside GIMS’s robust clinical infrastructure and patient-centric research ecosystem. This integration is expected to accelerate translational research, enhance grant opportunities, and facilitate the conversion of innovative ideas into clinically validated healthcare solutions addressing both regional and national priorities.

The signing ceremony witnessed the presence of senior leadership from both institutions. The GIMS delegation included Dr. (Brig.) Rakesh Gupta, Director of GIMS, along with senior academic and research officials. Representing GBU were Prof. Rana Pratap Singh, Vice-Chancellor, and other key members of the university’s academic leadership.

The partnership marks a forward-looking initiative to bridge the gap between academic research and clinical application, ultimately contributing to improved healthcare outcomes and innovation-driven growth in the biomedical sector.
