NIOS Partners with NIELIT to Boost Digital Skills and Future-Ready Education Across India

Noida News (20 March 2026): In a significant step toward strengthening digital education and skill development in India, the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) has entered into a strategic partnership with the National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology. The collaboration was formalized through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at promoting digital literacy, vocational training, and industry-oriented education nationwide.

The MoU signing ceremony took place in Noida and was attended by prominent dignitaries, including Akhilesh Mishra, Chairman of NIOS; Shakeel Ahmad, Secretary of NIOS; Madan Mohan Tripathi, Director General of NIELIT; and S. Krishnan, Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).

This partnership is designed to expand access to Information and Communication Technology (ICT) education and emerging technology training, while aligning learning programs with current industry demands. The initiative focuses particularly on enhancing employability among youth, as well as providing flexible learning opportunities for lifelong learners.

Under the agreement, NIELIT will contribute its technical expertise in areas such as curriculum design, training delivery, and certification frameworks. Meanwhile, NIOS will leverage its extensive network of study centres and large learner base to implement these programs effectively across the country.

Officials highlighted that the collaboration is in line with major national missions such as National Education Policy 2020, Digital India, and Skill India. By integrating technology-enabled education with skill development, the initiative aims to create a more inclusive, accessible, and future-ready learning ecosystem. The MoU is expected to play a crucial role in bridging the digital skills gap and preparing learners for the evolving demands of the modern workforce.
