Greater Noida News (22 March 2026): The Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) has been conferred with an appreciation award for its outstanding performance in implementing the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM). The recognition was presented by Ritu Maheshwari, Secretary of Medical Health and Family Welfare, Government of Uttar Pradesh, and Managing Director of ABDM.
The award ceremony took place during a review meeting of the Meerut and Saharanpur divisions held at Radisson Hotel Ghaziabad on Sunday.
Launched in 2021 by the Government of India, ABDM aims to digitize healthcare records across the country. The initiative focuses on creating a seamless digital health ecosystem, including ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) registration for citizens, onboarding healthcare professionals such as doctors and nurses, and registering healthcare facilities. It also promotes the adoption of Hospital Management Information Systems (HMIS) to ensure efficient data management and continuity of care.
GIMS has demonstrated exceptional performance under the mission by completing over 10 lakh ABHA registrations, facilitating more than 50,000 medical record linkages, and ensuring that over 80 percent of its healthcare professionals are registered under ABDM. These achievements were highly appreciated during the review.
Speaking at the event, Brigadier Rakesh Gupta highlighted the importance of digital health initiatives and encouraged both patients and healthcare staff to actively participate in strengthening the system.
The ABDM framework offers significant benefits to patients. Through the ABHA mobile application, individuals can securely store and access their medical records, including prescriptions and lab reports. With patient consent, hospitals can retrieve these records instantly, eliminating the need to carry physical documents and reducing waiting times for registration and diagnostic services.
Additionally, doctors can access comprehensive patient histories in real time, improving diagnosis and treatment outcomes. The integration of artificial intelligence further enhances the ability of healthcare providers to analyze data efficiently and deliver better care.
Reaffirming its commitment, GIMS stated that it will continue to work diligently toward patient welfare while advancing digital healthcare services. The institute also expressed gratitude to patients for actively participating in ABDM registration and utilizing the hospital’s facilities.
