Greater Noida News (01/06/2026): Marking the observance of World No Tobacco Day, the School of Biotechnology and the National Service Scheme (NSS) Cell of Gautam Buddha University (GBU), in collaboration with the Centre for Health Innovation and Policy (CHIP) Foundation, successfully organized a large-scale Free Health Check-up, Cancer Screening, and Health Awareness Camp at the university campus.
The event, held on May 30, 2026, at the School of Biotechnology, brought together healthcare professionals, academicians, and members of the university community under the theme, “Promoting Preventive Healthcare & Awareness: Working Together for a Healthier and Stronger Community.” The initiative was further strengthened through the support of the School of Dental Sciences, Sharda University, and Felix Hospitals, which served as key healthcare and clinical partners.
The comprehensive health camp attracted significant participation from university faculty members, administrative staff, support personnel, and their family members. The program aimed to encourage proactive healthcare practices and raise awareness about lifestyle-related diseases, particularly those associated with tobacco consumption and cancer.
A major highlight of the camp was the focused screening and awareness drive on oral cancer, tobacco cessation, and breast cancer prevention. Medical experts conducted oral cancer screenings, provided counseling on quitting tobacco, and educated participants about the importance of early detection and regular health monitoring. Awareness sessions also emphasized recognizing early symptoms of breast cancer and adopting preventive health measures.
The initiative was designed around the core principles of “Early Detection, Awareness, and Prevention,” reinforcing the message that timely diagnosis and informed lifestyle choices can significantly reduce the burden of serious diseases.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Rana Pratap Singh, Vice Chancellor of Gautam Buddha University, underscored the importance of employee health and wellness in fostering a productive and resilient academic environment. He stated that the physical and mental well-being of university staff forms the backbone of a thriving educational institution and that such healthcare initiatives contribute significantly to creating a healthier campus community.
Prof. Rajeev Varshney, Dean Academics, and Prof. S. Dhanalakshmi, Dean, School of Biotechnology, expressed their appreciation to all partnering organizations and healthcare professionals for their valuable support. They noted that the health camp reflects a successful model of collaboration between academic institutions and healthcare organizations, aimed at improving community health outcomes through awareness, screening, and preventive care.
The organizers described the event as an important step toward strengthening public health outreach within the university ecosystem while promoting a culture of health consciousness and disease prevention. Participants benefited from expert medical consultations, health screenings, and interactive educational sessions, making the camp a meaningful and impactful contribution to community well-being.
The successful execution of the mega health camp reaffirmed GBU’s commitment to social responsibility, preventive healthcare, and the promotion of a healthier future for its academic community and society at large.
