GIMS Marks International Yoga Day 2026 with Enthusiastic Participation

Greater Noida News (21/06/2026): The Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS), Greater Noida, celebrated International Yoga Day 2026 with great fervor and active participation at the newly constructed building of the College of Nursing, located within the institute’s expansive 56-acre campus. The event brought together faculty members, nursing students, administrative staff, and healthcare professionals in a collective effort to promote health, wellness, and holistic living through the practice of yoga.

The yoga session featured a comprehensive series of activities, including various yoga postures (asanas), breathing exercises (pranayama), and meditation techniques. Participants enthusiastically engaged in the practices aimed at enhancing physical fitness, improving mental health, reducing stress, and fostering emotional balance.

Addressing the gathering, Prof. (Brig.) Rakesh Gupta, Director of GIMS Greater Noida, highlighted the global significance of yoga and its relevance in contemporary healthcare. “Yoga is India’s priceless gift to the world. Regular practice of yoga helps individuals achieve physical fitness, mental tranquility, and emotional well-being. The event was organized under the guidance and leadership of Dr. Bhupendra, Administrative Officer of GIMS and Professor in the Department of Physiology, along with Dr. Prerna Agarwal, Faculty Member in the Department of Physiology. Their coordinated efforts ensured the smooth conduct of the programme and inspired enthusiastic participation from members of the GIMS community.

Organizers underscored the importance of incorporating yoga into daily routines, particularly for healthcare workers who often face demanding schedules and high levels of stress.
