Greater Noida News (21 July 2026): The College of Allied & Healthcare Sciences at the Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS), Greater Noida, commemorated National Anaesthesia and Operation Theatre Technologist Day 2026 with a series of academic and cultural activities aimed at promoting innovation, patient safety, and excellence in surgical care. The event was organized under the theme “Innovation in Operation Theatre: Advancing Safe Surgical Care.”
The programme brought together medical professionals, faculty members, and students to recognize the indispensable contribution of anaesthesia and operation theatre technologists in ensuring safe and efficient surgical procedures. The celebration emphasized the importance of adopting modern practices and technological advancements to enhance patient outcomes in operation theatres.
The event was graced by Brig. Dr. Rakesh Gupta, Director, GIMS, along with Dr. Satyendra Kumar, Chief Medical Superintendent (CMS); Dr. Brij Mohan; Dr. Manisha Singh, Principal, College of Allied & Healthcare Sciences; Dr. Nazia, Head of the Department of Anaesthesia; Dr. Jaya Bharti, Vice Principal; and other faculty members and healthcare professionals.
Addressing the gathering, Brig. Dr. Rakesh Gupta underscored the crucial role played by Operation Theatre Technologists as an integral part of the surgical team. He noted that their expertise, precision, and commitment significantly contribute to successful surgeries and patient safety. Encouraging students to strive for excellence, he emphasized the values of professionalism, teamwork, discipline, and continuous learning in the rapidly evolving healthcare sector.
The programme commenced with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony and Ganesh Vandana, setting a ceremonial tone for the event. An overview of the programme was presented by Ms. Arpita, Assistant Professor, College of Allied & Healthcare Sciences, who highlighted the significance of the occasion and the objectives behind organizing the event.
The academic sessions featured expert lectures by Dr. Maninder Kaur and Dr. Garima, who shared their knowledge on emerging trends, technological innovations, and best practices in anaesthesia and operation theatre management. Their sessions focused on improving surgical efficiency, strengthening patient safety protocols, and adapting to the latest advancements in perioperative care.
To encourage active participation and practical learning, the event included a range of student-centric activities such as a poster competition, technical presentations, a Nukkad Natak (street play) highlighting patient safety awareness, and a quiz competition centered on innovation in operation theatre practices. These activities provided students with an opportunity to showcase their knowledge, creativity, and understanding of modern surgical care.
The celebration concluded with a vote of thanks, acknowledging the efforts of the organizing committee, faculty members, guest speakers, and students for making the event a success. The programme reaffirmed GIMS Greater Noida’s commitment to nurturing skilled healthcare professionals and promoting excellence in allied health education through academic engagement and innovation-driven learning.
