GIMS Greater Noida Advances Emergency Care Excellence with BCLS Certification Program

Greater Noida News (25 July 2026): Reinforcing its commitment to enhancing emergency medical preparedness and clinical excellence, the Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS), Greater Noida, successfully concluded its Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certification Course, equipping healthcare professionals with critical life-saving skills required during cardiac and respiratory emergencies.

The certification program brought together more than 30 participants, including doctors, nursing professionals, and paramedical staff, who underwent intensive theoretical and practical training designed to improve their ability to respond effectively in high-pressure emergency situations.

The course was inaugurated by Dr. (Brig.) Rakesh Gupta, Director, GIMS, who highlighted the growing importance of structured, skill-based emergency training in modern healthcare. Addressing the participants, he stressed that prompt recognition of cardiac emergencies and timely intervention by trained professionals can substantially improve patient survival and clinical outcomes.

The training was conducted by the institute’s Department of Anaesthesiology under the leadership of Dr. Nazia Nazir. The expert faculty team, comprising Dr. Ruchi Singh, Dr. Garima Sinha, Dr. Vinay Kumar, Dr. Debayan Biswas, along with postgraduate residents, delivered comprehensive sessions based on internationally accepted emergency care protocols.

Designed to strengthen frontline emergency response capabilities, the program focused on the core principles of Basic Cardiac Life Support, enabling participants to recognize life-threatening situations and initiate immediate, evidence-based resuscitation measures. The curriculum also explained the distinction between Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and Compression Only Life Support (COLS), helping participants understand the appropriate approach in different emergency scenarios.

A major component of the course emphasized practical, simulation-based learning. Participants received hands-on training in performing high-quality cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), operating Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), and managing choking and sudden cardiac arrest with confidence and precision. These practical exercises were designed to ensure that healthcare workers can translate classroom knowledge into real-world emergency response.

The certification program was conducted in collaboration with the Indian Resuscitation Council Federation (IRCF), reflecting GIMS’s continued efforts to align its clinical training with nationally recognized standards for emergency care and resuscitation practices.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. (Brig.) Rakesh Gupta praised the initiative as an important step toward building a highly skilled healthcare workforce capable of delivering timely and effective emergency interventions. He noted that regular competency-based training programs are essential for strengthening institutional preparedness and improving patient safety across healthcare facilities.

The successful completion of the BCLS Certification Course further underscores GIMS Greater Noida’s commitment to promoting excellence in medical education, advancing patient-centered care, and enhancing emergency response capabilities. The initiative, conducted under the GIMS VIDYA SETU Team, reflects the institute’s ongoing focus on continuous professional development and the adoption of best practices in clinical training.
