St. Joseph’s School Hosts Thrilling CISCE State-Level Boys’ Kho Kho Championship

Greater Noida News (31 July 2026): St. Joseph’s School, Sector Alpha-I, Greater Noida, successfully concluded the two-day CISCE Regional Boys’ State-Level Kho Kho Tournament 2026, hosting some of the finest young Kho Kho players from across Uttar Pradesh. The championship featured high-energy contests in the Under-14, Under-17, and Under-19 categories, highlighting outstanding athleticism, teamwork, and competitive spirit.

The tournament commenced with league-stage fixtures, where participating teams battled for qualification to the knockout rounds. Players showcased remarkable speed, endurance, agility, and tactical skills throughout the opening day, setting the stage for an exciting finale.

The second day witnessed gripping semifinal clashes followed by fiercely contested championship matches. Spectators were treated to a series of thrilling encounters as teams fought hard for top honours, reflecting the growing standard of school-level Kho Kho in the state.

Championship Results

In the Under-14 category, Ghaziabad emerged as champions after an impressive campaign. Kanpur South secured the runners-up position, while Kanpur North finished third and Varanasi claimed fourth place.

The Under-17 title was won by Kanpur South, which delivered consistent performances throughout the tournament. Kanpur North finished as runners-up, Ghaziabad secured third place, and Meerut ended the competition in fourth position.

In the Under-19 category, Kanpur South once again proved its dominance by lifting the championship trophy. Kanpur North claimed the runners-up spot, while Lucknow South finished third and Ghaziabad secured fourth place.

Prize Distribution Ceremony

The closing ceremony was led by Principal Fr. Jipson Palatty, who presented trophies to the winning teams and congratulated every participant for their commitment, discipline, and sporting excellence throughout the tournament.

Addressing the young athletes, Fr. Palatty encouraged them to treat every victory as a stepping stone towards greater achievements. He urged the players to remain dedicated to continuous improvement and prepare themselves for the upcoming CISCE National Kho Kho Championship, where they will represent their respective regions.

Adding inspiration to the occasion, the school welcomed its distinguished alumnus and Paralympic bronze medallist Varun Singh Bhati, who interacted with the participants and presented medals to the winners. His presence motivated the young athletes to pursue excellence through determination, perseverance, and hard work.

Acknowledging the Organising Team

Fr. Jipson Palatty also expressed gratitude to the organising committee, sports department, coaches, referees, officials, volunteers, and support staff for their coordinated efforts in ensuring the smooth and successful conduct of the championship. He appreciated their dedication in creating a professionally managed sporting event that provided students with a competitive platform to showcase their talent.

Concluding the event, the Principal extended his best wishes to all the teams that qualified for the CISCE National Kho Kho Championship, scheduled to be held in Telangana this August, expressing confidence that they would continue to make their schools and the state proud on the national stage.
