National News (26 August 2026): NTPC Limited has launched its three-month-long Vigilance Awareness Campaign 2026 with a renewed focus on strengthening transparency, ethical conduct and preventive vigilance across the organisation. The campaign was formally inaugurated at Scope Complex, New Delhi, by Rashmita Jha, IRS, Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO), NTPC. The initiative will run from August 17 to November 16, 2026, ahead of Vigilance Awareness Week 2026. On the occasion, the CVO also unveiled NTPC’s revamped Corporate Vigilance Intranet page, aimed at improving access to vigilance-related information and initiatives.

The campaign is being conducted under the theme “Probity for Prosperity”, in line with the focus areas identified by the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC). The initiative will concentrate on five major areas — resolution of pending complaints, disposal of pending cases, capacity-building programmes, digital initiatives and contract management.

Addressing officials during the launch, Rashmita Jha called upon vigilance personnel to further enhance the reach, quality and effectiveness of preventive vigilance and awareness programmes throughout the campaign. She stressed the need to move beyond traditional awareness activities and adopt innovative, participative approaches that can create a lasting impact.

As part of the campaign, NTPC will also expand its “VAW Volunteer” initiative, with a special emphasis this year on involving women associated with Self-Help Groups (SHGs). The initiative is aimed at encouraging wider participation among stakeholders and creating greater awareness about integrity, ethical practices and vigilance.

The CVO highlighted the importance of making vigilance activities more interactive and stakeholder-oriented. She said the campaign offers an opportunity to strengthen preventive vigilance through innovative programmes, active participation and effective implementation at different levels of the organisation.

G. Raja Shekhar, Head of Vigilance, NTPC, also addressed the gathering and urged Vigilance Executives to demonstrate integrity and ethical behaviour in their professional conduct. He called upon them to lead by example and serve as the key ambassadors of the campaign across NTPC’s projects and establishments.

The three-month campaign is expected to reinforce NTPC’s efforts towards building a stronger culture of transparency, accountability and ethical decision-making while strengthening preventive vigilance mechanisms across the organisation.
