The Aam Aadmi Party national convenor and former Delhi chief minister, Arvind Kejriwal along with party leader Prashant Bhushan met the Lieutenant Governor, Mr Najeeb Jung to demand immediate dissolution of the state assemnbly.

The AAP leaders submitted a memorandum to the Lieutenant Governor (which is attached to this press statement), demanding reconsideration of his earlier decision.

The Aam Aadmi Party will expose the match fixing between the BJP and the Congress, both of whom are desperate to avoid fresh assembly elections in Delhi at all costs.

The extreme reluctance of these parties to make their stand public on the issue was evident during the hearing of the AAP petition in the Supreme Court on Monday, when they sought more time to file their replies.

The BJP and the Congress, both, appear to be happy with the President’s rule in the national capital. They are running away from facing the assembly elections and are denying the people their basic right of having an elected state government.

It is surprising that the BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate Mr Narendra Modi and the Congress President, Mrs Sonia Gandhi, both of whom have addressed election rallies in the capital recently, have chosen to maintain a mysterious silence on whether their parties want fresh assembly elections or not.

The BJP and the Congress, who had joined hands in the state assembly on February 14 to defeat the AAP government’s Janlokpal bill in the state assembly by openly stating that they had a combined strength of 40 MLAs in the 70-member House, are now desperately looking for escape routes to avoid elections.

The AAP challenges the BJP and the Congress to reveal their stand on whether the President’s rule should continue in Delhi and spell out the reasons for getting the intermim budget passed in parliament which ended the relief to the people of Delhi on electricity and water tarrifs.

The AAP will effectively raise these issues in its campaign and will not allow the BJP and the Congress to run away from answering the public on these key issues.
