AAP reaction on Commando MLA Surinder Singh case.

The failure of Delhi Police to substantiate its allegations against former NSG commando MLA Surinder Singh in court should serve as a lesson for it to desist in future against indulging in politically motivated actions.

The court order to release Commando Surinder, one of the heroes of 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, on bail less than 24 hours after his completely unjustified arrest, is a comprehensive rejection of the concocted police theory.

It was beyond any reasonable understanding as to why Commando Surinder Singh was suddenly arrested on Friday night, when he had already subjected himself to all sorts of questioning which the Police might have wanted in a case made out of fabricated allegations.

Implication of Commando Surinder in this case is a clear example of how Delhi Police has allowed itself to be used by the BJP’s central government to trouble elected MLAs, which is making desperate attempts to settle scores with its political rivals.

Despite assertions by the top brass of the Delhi Police that it is not under any sort of political pressure, its repeated unsuccessful attempts to browbeat AAP leaders and volunteers, make it clear that it has allowed its impartiality and credibility to be compromised.

AAP makes it clear that the party will not be cowed down by such threats and will continue to work for the people of Delhi, particularly the poor and downtrodden.

Delhi Police has a lot to answer and its choice is clear – whether it will work according to law or will it continue to work according to diktats of its political masters.
