New Delhi: In the PWD scam case of Delhi, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested Vinay Bansal, a relative of Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday morning. Vinay Bansal is son of Kejriwal’s brother-in-law Surendra Bansal who died last year. In this case of corruption, FIR was filed in ACB on May 8, 2017.

The FIR’s were registered when Rahul Sharma, founder of Roads Anti-Corruption Organisation (RACO), had alleged that Kejriwal and PWD minister Satyendra Jain misused their office for grant of contracts to Bansal.  However, they have not been named in the FIR. The FIR names three companies, of which Renu Constructions is owned by Bansal, while the other two are owned by Kamal Singh and Pawan Kumar respectively. The organization had alleged that a firm linked to Bansal was involved in financial irregularities.

The ACB has also ordered an inspection into an alleged Rs. 10 crore scam involving Surendra Kumar Bansal, Kejriwal’s brother-in-law. The ACB had raided his residence and office premises last year. The ACB had registered three cases against Bansal and other senior PWD officers in connection with the alleged scam.

On the other hand, the Delhi government has said that the arrest of Vinay Bansal was done under the Political Vendetta, claiming that the construction work undertaken by Bansal’s firm was given a clean chit by Sriram Labs, which was directed by the ACB to do the inspection.

Deputy CM, Manish Sisodia said, “its more than two decade old firm which has taken a project before AAP came to power. After that opposition party raised this issue and government order probe but proved clean as whistle. This is a fake matter to divert people attention from CCTV project row.
