New Delhi, 26 October 2022: The chief minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal has urged the central government to put the images of Hindu deities, Lakshmi and Ganesh on Indian currency notes.

He further stated that adding images of Hindu deities alongside those of Mahatma Gandhi will help India thrive.

The Delhi Chief Minister made it clear that he was asking for new currency notes with images of Lakshmi and Ganesh rather than changing the existing notes. “New currency notes are printed every day. Then, these images can be added,” Kejriwal remarked, noting that the two deities were linked to success and prosperity.

In a press conference in Delhi, he argued that Indonesia has a Muslim majority and only a small percentage of Hindus, although Ganesh Ji’s image appears on their money. “When Indonesia can do, why can’t we do?” he said.

“Despite our best efforts, there are times when they are in vain if the gods and goddesses are not on our side. I beg Prime Minister Modi to include images of Lord Ganesha and Goddess Laxmi on our money (notes),” he further added.
