Admiral Karambir Singh honours family of martyrs at Shaheed Smarak Sanstha’s Annual Day
Noida: Shaheed Smarak Sanstha, celebrated its 9th Annual Day on Saturday, 22nd Feb 2020.
The chief guest, Admiral Karambir Singh, PVSM, AVSM, ADC, Chief of Naval Staff, paid homage to martyrs followed by Maj General VK MISHRA, AVSM, GOC, Delhi Area; Major General SS Suhag, ADG(EME) and Air Vice Marshal Vikram Singh, VSM, ACAS(Plans); representing Indian Army and Indian Air Force respectively.
Earlier, the chief guest was received by the Chairman, Lt Gen GL Bakshi and Executive Director, Lt Gen SK Singh.
The ceremonial tri service guard and buglers lead by Lieutenant Commander AK Mahanty carried out procedure with military precision.
The choir group of Army Public School prepared by Mr Narang, gave a scintillating performance, which was applauded by everyone.
Admiral unveiled the model of INS Chennai, P-15A Guided Missile Destroyer, gifted by Indian Navy.
It was commissioned in Indian Navy on 21 Nov 16. A unique feature of this ship is the high level of indigenisation incorporated in the production.
The ship has Combat Management System, Rocket Launcher, Torpedo Tube Launcher, Automated Power Management System, Foldable Hangar Doors, Helo Traversing system, Auxiliary Control System and the Bow mounted SONAR.
Admiral interacted with the families of martyrs Mrs Seema Mishra distributed gifts to NOKs of PBOR, on behalf of Sanstha.
The chairmen welcome the Admiral and expressed his gratitude on the behalf of Sanstha for being the chief guest and presenting model of the INS Chennai, which will inspire youth to join Indian Navy. He reminded the gathering that there are many memorials in the country but Shaheed Smarak is the first and only Tri-Services Memorial in the country raised by Noida to honour its war dead and which represents Army, Navy and Air Force. He thanked three service headquarter, Delhi Area, Signal Regiment, Noida Authority, Noida police, heads of Arun Vihar and Jal Vayu Vihar institutions and Army Public School for their assistance and generous donations. He praised media for their valuable contribution.
After releasing ‘Souvenir 2020’, the chief guest appreciated the high standard of the function and congratulated the dedicated team of Sanstha. He assured service HQS support in future too. On behalf of all service personnel, he thanked the families of martyrs for their valour and supreme sacrifice, which country will never forget. He also mentioned that the country is indebted to their families and all possible help will be extended to them. He further told the gathering that Noida Shaheed Smarak being TRI SERVICE MEMORIAL, it is a symbol of services cooperation and unity. To the younger generation present, he told them that they are a symbol of free India and the future of this nation and they should treat with great reverence, respect and a sense of responsibility. In the end he quoted, ” Our flags do not fly because the wind moves it, it flies with the last breath of each soldier who died protecting it.”
