Rajasthan, August 16th, 2022: After Arvind Kejriwal opposed PM Narendra Modi’s reluctance to provide free facilities and perceived them as “freebie” or revdi culture, Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot too put his weight behind Kejriwal saying that welfare schemes for people cannot be dubbed as freebie culture.
Citing weekly payments made to the poor and elderly, CM Gehlot said that public welfare should be the top priority of the government and they should not be eliminating it.
“It is the responsibility of a government to implement public welfare schemes”, Gehlot said while addressing a gathering at the state’s I-Day ceremony at the Sawai Man Singh stadium on August 15th.
“There has been talk about revdi or freebie culture but I do not consider it as such. In Rajasthan, one crore people are being given pensions”, the senior Congress leader said.
Earlier, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal had also asserted that free education and healthcare should not be associated with the term “freebie” culture. He also added that debt loans worth crores of the friends of the current BJP-led government are written off every year but there is hesitation to provide for those who are helpless.
The Rajasthan CM concluded that the country is moving forward every day and hopes that people from all religions and caste live in brotherhood and unity.
