#Agra to finally get a Rs. 606 crore barrage

Every year, during the months of May and June, the people of Agra face an acute shortage of drinking water due to a dried and silted up Yamuna while most of the water flows down the stream in the earlier months, to join with Chambal near Bateshwar in Bah Tehsil area. For over three decades, the locals have raised the demand for a barrage that could allow the city to keep a stock of the millions of cusecs of water that flows away unutilised, but the demands have fallen on deaf ears.
