New Delhi, 05th July 2023: In the midst of Maharashtra’s present political drama, Ajit Pawar has moved the Election Commission to claim the name and emblem of the party founded by his uncle, Sharad Pawar. Ajit Pawar’s supporters have filed over 40 affidavits of support from MLAs and MPs.

In response, the Sharad Pawar camp has filed a caveat with the EC, requesting that it hear their side before passing any directive relating to the factional conflict.

The Election Commission has requested that both sides exchange the materials they have given to it. According to rumours, the election commission would likely evaluate applications within a few days.

In the midst of the NCP conflict, Sharad Pawar and Ajit Pawar met separately with their MLAs in Mumbai. As many as 29 of the NCP’s 53 MLAs attended the party conference called by Ajit, while the Sharad Pawar side looked to have 17 legislators.
