Akshay Kumar, Siddhart Malhotra pay Tribute on Kargil Vijay Diwas

New Delhi, 26th July 2023: On the eve of Kargil Vijay Diwas, Bollywood celebrities joined India in honouring the Kargil War martyrs. Actors including as Akshay Kumar, Sidharth Malhotra, and Nimrat Kaur, among others, paid respect to the martyrs on social media.

The Kargil War was fought between India and Pakistan in 1999. The battle has inspired films such as LOC Kargil, Lakshya, Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl, and Shershaah.

Siddharth Malhotra who played Captain Vikram Batra in Shershaah tweeted, “Honoring the brave soldiers of our army and paying tribute to Capt. Vikram Batra on this #KargilVijayDiwas. Let us remember the courageous souls who fearlessly defended our motherland during the Kargil War. Their sacrifice and valor shall forever be etched in our hearts. Jai Hind!”

Akshay Kumar, Anupam Kher, Nimrat Kaur, and Abhishek Bachchan all paid their respects.

Akshay Kumar tweeted, “With gratitude in heart and prayer on the lips, remembering our bravehearts who attained martyrdom in Kargil War. We live because of you. #KargilVijayDiwas.”

Nimrat Kaur also shared a note on Twitter and wrote, “Remembering the unparalleled sacrifices and valour of the Indian Armed Forces on #KargilVijayDiwas. Back home in Noida my Mama completed a 20km cycling marathon organised in their memory. Never shall we forget the supreme service of the heroes of the Kargil War.”

Kargil Vijay Diwas is observed every year on July 26 to commemorate the Kargil martyrs and to celebrate India’s victory over Pakistan during the 1999 Kargil War.
