Delhi, August 24th, 2022: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is all set to launch the Bharat Jodo Yatra foot march from September 7th which will last for 150 days, covering 12 states, and a stretch of about 3,500 km.

The padyatra(foot march) will begin in Kanyakumari on Sept 7th and culminate in Kashmir. The first four days of the yatra will be in Tamil Nadu, the next four days will be in Kerela and onward.

State President of Congress, Shivkumar said that the daily distance of the yatra will be decided based on conditions like weather and number of visits to be made.

Rahul Gandhi would first visit the Sriperumbudur Memorial near Chennai before commencing the yatra. Sriperumbudur was the assassination site of his father, Rajiv Gandhi due to which the Congress leader is scheduled to begin there by paying homage to him.

He also held a meeting with several civil society organizations and encouraged people to participate in the yatra. The meeting was attended by 150 such social organizations.

Congress last week stated that the rally is meant to provide an alternative to the “politics of fear, bigotry, and prejudice” and to the economics of livelihood destruction, increasing unemployment, and growing inequalities.

The tagline for the yatra, “Mile kadam, jude vatan”, was released on Tuesday along with the logo and website of the foot march.
