Another mishap on Yamuna E-Way due to unavailability of crash barriers, four dead

Greater Noida:  On Friday, in a major road mishap on Yamuna Expressway, four people lost their lives while one got grievously injured. The incident happened around 12 PM near Falenda cut under Rabupura Police station area, when a TATA 407 overturned because of tyre burst and rammed with Vitara Brezza coming from the opposite direction after crossing the divider.

 

Rabupura police station in-charge Inspector Dinesh Kumar Singh told that “A Tata-407 was on its way to Agra, carrying fruits, garlic, onions when its tyre busted, it lost the momentum, crossed the divider and rammed with Vitara Brezza heading towards Greater Noida. Impact of the collision was so massive that car was blown in pieces.”

All the victims have been identified as Nitin Sharma, Urvashi Sharma, Usha Sharma, Satish Chaudhary and 12-year-old child, all residents of Satghara Colony in Mathura. After the incident, all victims were taken to a private hospital in Greater Noida, where four people succumbed to injure while one has said to be in a very critical.

The lives could have been saved if only the accident spot had crash barrier which stops a vehicle from going to another side of the road, preventing multiple accidents. Jaypee Infratech Limited (JIL), the operator of the Yamuna Expressway has started the work for the installation of crash barriers.
