New Delhi : Students from various universities across Delhi joined a march from Mandi House to Jantar Mantar on Tuesday against the amended Citizenship Act, amid heavy deployment of security personnel.

Slogans of ‘Halla Bol’ and ‘Chhatra Ekta Zindabad’ resonated through the air as they commenced their march. Several citizens also took part in it.

Students from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Jamia Millia Islamia and Delhi University took part in the march.

Two girls from Jamia Millia Islamia while interacting with Ten News said that they don’t trust PM Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah any more as both of them are lying over the issue. They said ” The Prime Minister is saying there has been no discussion or proposal on NRC. But a few days ago, BJP president and Union Home Minister Amit Shah had said NRC exercise would be carried out across the country. Both the statements are contradictory. We wonder who is speaking the truth.

The Prime Minister said there are no detention centres in India. But we all know and it has been reported widely that work on such centres have started,” Swaraj India leader Yogendra Yadav said.

Surrounded by protesters holding placards of Mahatma Gandhi and other freedom fighters, Mr Yadav shouted slogans against Home Minister Amit Shah too. “The PM is contradicting what the Home Minister said about the NRC,” Mr Yadav said.
