Apple has created over 1 lakh Direct Jobs in India: MoS IT

New Delhi (India), 19th April 2023: Rajeev Chandrashekhar, Minister of State for Electronics and IT, provided information on, April 18, 2023 and stated that the Apple ecosystem in India has created over one lakh new direct jobs, in contrast to numerous other businesses that have laid off workers over the past two years.

The manufacturing industry has produced the direct jobs during the past two years.

The IT Minister took to Twitter and stated, “Propelled by Prime Minister @narendramodi’s visionary PLI scheme @Apple ecosystem has generated over one lakh new direct jobs in manufacturing over the last 24 months.”

According to data shared by the minister of information and technology, women between the ages of 19 and 24 make up 70% of those who land a job within two years. The majority of them are beginning their careers with Apple and developing their skill sets to raise their standard of living.

He said, “About 70 per cent of these are 19-24 year old women, who are starting their careers, acquiring skills and improving the ease of living for their families.”

The information was released by the Ministry at a time when Apple CEO is on a visit to India. On April 18, Tim Cook inaugurated Apple BKC in Mumbai as the company’s first retail location in India. On April 20 in New Delhi, Cook is scheduled to inaugurate Apple Saket, the country’s second such retail store.

Cook while talking to media commented, “India is at a tipping point. And it feels so great to be here. You can just feel the vibrancy, the dynamism, the feeling that anything here is possible.”
