New Delhi (India) 14th April 2023: Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal has revealed that the government often communicates with Apple, the U.S.-based iPhone manufacturer and is making best use of Indian policies to help its business.
Apple is consistently growing its activities and expanding its business in India, he added.
The minister spoke at the Networking Dinner between Indian and Italian CEOs in Rome, held on April 13. He is currently touring to strengthen ties between India and the European Union.
He claimed that the way the electronics industry operates is that it first installs a basic setup before continually finding new components to add to its ecosystem.
The minister said, “Apple is continuously expanding their operations in India… We are in regular touch with the Apple, MeITY (Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology) is also in touch with them… We hand-hold them because in a way, the eyes of the whole world are fixed on Apple.”
He further added, “Apple itself has exported about $5 billion worth of goods last year from India and they are planning to have 25% of their global production coming out of India in the next 4 or 5 years.”
