As part of Go Green initiative, Pvt. Vehicles to be banned inside GBTU campus!

To promote a healthy lifestyle and cut down on vehicular pollution, the Gautam Buddha University has decided to make its campus a no-vehicle zone very soon. The Gautam Buddha University is built on a 511­ Acre campus. It is located near the Buddh International Circuit along the Yamuna Expressway.

University has already ordered two buses from administration which will be delivered very soon and after that the ban on private vehicles would be enforced. The buses will be plying to and fro from the gates at regular intervals so that the students will not have to face any problem while commuting inside the university campus.

Dr. Prbahat Kumar, Meerut Commissioner and Vice-Chancellor of GB University said, “We have decided to ban the use of private vehicles (inside the campus) with an aim to reduce pollution and also encourage the use of environment friendly modes of travel from one building to another. We will start enforcing the ban once we procure the electric vehicles which the staff and students can use for short commutes the in campus”.

He also informed that new courses like Hospitality Management and MBA in Mass Communication will be soon introduced in the university and efforts will be made to make teachers delivering quality education permanent so that quality of education can be enhanced.

University will also make some serious efforts to reduce its debts. For now the annual expenditure is around 50 crore, 10 crore of which is funded by the authority. The University has taken a target of reducing its dependency on the Authority and hence the goal is to reduce yearly budget by 10 crore.
