Barca Academy’s Asia Pacific region Football Tournament to kick off in Gurugram from Jan 28

New Delhi: BARCA Academy’s Asia Pacific Cup, 2019 hosted by Barca Academy India at The Heritage Xperiential Learning School, Gurugram will be kicking off from Friday i.e January 25.

Luis Garcia, former Barcelona FC midfielder unveiled the Barca Academy’s Asia Pacific Cup trophy at New Delhi in a press meet.



The press meet was joined by Former Footballer, Luis Gracia, Barca Academy Asia Pacific, Director, Antonia Claveria, Conscient Football Director, Anupama Jain, Barca Academy Global Director, Carlos Martin.

The Asia Pacific Cup which will host 6 countries and 48 teams from Australia, Japan, China, Spain, Singapore and India will lock-horns against each other in different categories with over 500 players.

Last year in September, FC Barcelona Legend and former Argentina World Cup player, Javier Saviola announced that the mega tournament will be hosted by India.

Unveiling the trophy Barca Legend Luis Garcia said, “India has got tremendous talent and I am glad to see so much footballing action in this country.”

“Grassroots football helps develop great players. A tournament of this scale reassures players of great opportunities. It also works as a catalyst to create infrastructure needed to nurture the talent”, the former footballer added.

This is the first time that India will be hosting an international intra club football tournament of such higher magnitude.
