New Delhi, 19h May 2023: The state Minister for Electronics and IT, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, confirmed that a 3-month trial approval has been granted for BGMI, Battlegrounds Mobile India.

This comes as the Indian government had earlier blocked the popular game in the country last July, citing concerns about its data-sharing and mining regulations in China.
The South Korean game developer Krafton and South Korea’s foreign affairs and culture ministries met with the Indian government officials to help lift the ban.

The three-month trial was approved only after the authorities agreed to compile the server locations and data security issues. ‘We will keep a close watch on other issues of user harm, addiction etc in next three month before a final decision is taken,’ Chandrasekhar announced in a Tweet.

The PUBG ban last year was a part of a larger campaign against the Chinese apps, including video sharing app TikTok, and online shopping platform Shein.
