BIMTECH Celebrates 38th Foundation Day, Air India Group Head P. Balaji Shares Inspiring Life Lessons

Greater Noida (15 October 2025): The Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH), an AACSB-accredited institution established under the visionary guidance of Late Basant Kumar Birla and Late Sarala Birla, celebrated its 38th Foundation Day with great enthusiasm and reverence. The event was graced by P. Balaji, Group Head – Governance, Risk, Compliance, and Corporate Affairs, Air India Ltd., as the Distinguished Guest of Honour.
The ceremony commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the dignitaries, symbolizing knowledge, progress, and enlightenment.
Delivering the welcome address, Dr. Prabina Rajib, Director of BIMTECH, warmly greeted the gathering and extended her heartfelt wishes on the occasion. She remarked, a very happy Foundation Day to begin with. “Normally, we celebrate our Foundation Day on 2nd October, coinciding with the birthdays of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri. However, this year, we deferred it as the interim examinations were ongoing, and the date also overlapped with Dussehra celebrations.”
Dr. Rajib reflected on the importance of the day, emphasizing the need to revisit BIMTECH’s roots and its deep connection with the visionary Birla legacy.
“When I think of vintage roots, I am reminded of Late Ghanshyam Das Birla — popularly known as G.D. Birla — whose life was inseparable from the story of modern India. A visionary industrialist, he founded several industries, including Birla Jute Mill in 1918, Hindustan Motors, and Grasim Industries, long before India’s independence,” she said. Dr. Rajib also highlighted G.D. Birla’s remarkable contribution to the education sector.
“He firmly believed that the future of India lies in education and went on to establish many institutions like BITS Pilani. He saw business not merely as a means to earn profits but as a path toward national progress,” she added.
The keynote address was delivered by P. Balaji, who shared valuable insights drawn from his illustrious professional journey and life experiences. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of self-belief, purpose, and perseverance. The world makes space for people who know where they are going. That is an eternal truth, he said, while narrating an anecdote from his early life in Patna.
He recounted his journey from a young tennis player to a corporate leader, illustrating how clarity of purpose can shape one’s destiny. “After joining Tata Steel as a graduate trainee, I thought I had found my dream job. But a casual interaction with a group of young professionals who had pursued their MBAs changed my perspective. I realized that life is about continuous learning and self-improvement,” he shared.
Encouraging students to pursue their dreams with passion, he added, “If you truly want something and work hard for it, the universe aligns to make it happen. Goals give direction to life — without them, you drift without purpose.”
His address received resounding applause for its sincerity and inspiration.
Following the addresses, BIMTECH recognized outstanding achievements and long-standing contributions within its community.
Best Researcher Award 2024 was presented to a faculty member for exemplary academic contribution.
Felicitation of faculty and staff who have rendered over a decade of dedicated service to the institute was conducted, acknowledging their commitment and contribution.
Winners of BIMTECH Unplugged 2.0, a vibrant inter-college competition, were also felicitated for their creativity and performance.
The event also saw the release of the Annual Activity Report 2024–25 and the Rural Immersion Program Report 2025, highlighting BIMTECH’s engagement in social development and academic innovation. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the Deputy Director of BIMTECH, expressing gratitude to all guests, faculty, students, and staff for making the celebration memorable. The ceremony ended with the National Anthem.
